In the carnival court shopping area outside Harrah's. Harrah's has a Mardi Gras theme and there is a shopping booth there with all sorts of Mardi Gras beads, including these.

You can sort of see lights inside the hotel rooms thru the advertisement. We thought about coordinating an operation (Brad's idea) via cell phone whereby one person would flash the light on and off at night inside the room, while others outside figured out the room location, but we never got around to it. 8/09

This was taken from the 10th floor hallway of our hotel while we were waiting for the elevator. It is looking out onto the habitat/pool area. You can't see much with all the trees. The building in the background is a Hilton Grand Vacations timeshare property . The time share patrons are alllowed to use the Flamingo Pool, they also have a small pool of their own. Bill's Gambling Hall guests, (located next door to the Flamingo) are also allowed to use the Flamingo Pool.

Kenna ducks from the camera as a girl named Mahala poses for the camera. Kenna and Mahala had a good time hanging together at the pool. They shared a mutual interest in American Girl dolls. That's a little bit of Brad on the right looking into the pool, probably coming to get the boy standing in the water to come to the slide pool and take on the teenage lifeguards in a water fight. The lifeguards would throw buckets of water onto the people going down the slide , the boys soon found out that there were empty buckets around the pool area that formerly contained ice and beer, they armed themselves with the buckets and took on the lifeguards.

Yes, there are Flamingos at the Flamingo. 10 of them. There are also some other birds, and turtles and fish in their "wildllife habitat". A zookeeper type person comes out 2 or 3 times a day and feeds the critters and gives a talk about them. The zoo keeper asks questions of the audience and if you are the first to answer correctly, they give you mardi gras beads! We stumbled on the talk one day and had a plan to come back the next day with all the answers and win the mardi gras beads but we overslept. Here's two answers : 10, and beta carotene. Some of the fish are huge, like 3 feet long. I think they were called "channel catfish". There are mallard ducks here too , but they are unwelcome guests. Three times a year they capture the mallard ducks and relocate them. The zoo keeper said anything that can fly in and out is a guest and shouldn't be there.

This is an aerial view of the Flamingo Pools that I stole off the internet. The water slides are circled in yellow. The big water slide empties into a nice pool that is not crowded and surrounded by family types, not swinging singles. Most people don't even know about the water slides because you cannot see them from the place where you are supposed to enter the pool area (over on right by main pool). We always entered from a roped off emergency access spot near the big slide (red circle) . This was the closest route from our hotel room. No one questoned us or asked to see our room key. The pool bar sells delicious frozen slushy pina coladas and other fruit drinks. You can get them with or without alcohol. The top oval pool is the over 21 topless pool. The pool slides are open daily June, July & Aug. and they are only open on week ends in May & September, closed rest of the year.

This is the pool that the slide empties into. As you can see, not very crowded, but this was a Thurs or Friday. This pool empties into a smaller pool via a small water slide (more like a 4 or 5 foot chute into the next pool) and then that pool emptiesinto another smaller pool via a smaller water chute slide. People with toddler types utilized the smaller slides.
